smartEQ.

I had the opportunity to meet up for coffee with a freelance client the other night. He gave me a demo of the project I collaborated on with Elaine. smartEQ is in the final testing phases, but here's a sneak peak of the GarageBand plug-in (which will eventually be available for download).

smartEQ is a novel way to interact with an audio equalizer, perhaps the most common tool used in audio production. Instead of directly adjusting esoteric processing parameters, the user simply rates the extent to which each of a small number of example settings capture the sound that they are looking for. smartEQ then uses these ratings to determine what is the optimal setting for the user. smartEQ is an audio plug-in that will be available in VST, AU, and RTAS for both Mac and Windows platforms.

Ooh, this looks cool. I'd be interested in playing with Garageband again if it had a not-so-technical EQ. I'm far from knowledgeable about waveforms, so this seems more my speed.

Nice design, by the way!

Thanks for the feedback. It's great to read that you're interested in a not-so-technical plug-in, since that was the client's goal. Andy Sabin has been developing a few other simplified audio gadgets, so I'll continue to post as they're released.
