Chicago life.
Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at 11:43PM I have some of the most amazing friends, in one of the greatest cities and absolutely nothing to complain about (besides winter). Life is good.

Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at 1:54PM Winter at the Whistler, installation by Jana Kinsman, opens tonight. Come join the cool kids and don't hesitate to buy the artist a drink! If you can't make it out this evening, don't fret — the display is up until April.
Jana Kinsman‘s doodles are uncomplicated in concept and charmingly sweet. In this move from pen and paper to the Whistler’s store-front windows, she draws her inspiration from the bar’s clientele. As a lifelong Midwesterner, Jana appreciates the fortitude of the Chicagoan who waits in the wintry cold for a warm spot and a stiff drink. These moments are her muse. Her doodles will stand alongside you in line and provide fodder for conversation, evoke your imagination and if nothing else, plant a smile on your face.

graphic design Foodie Registry launches!
Thursday, February 11, 2010 at 6:36PM I'm not even a foodie, but let's face it, by the time I get married, I won't be needing most of the traditional wedding presents. Foodie Registry offers a way for couples to ask for local dining experiences, instead of more household items. The list of participating restaurants is growing and I'm excited to watch them take off!
And yes, I designed their logo :)
Typeface!
Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at 8:10PM I had the opportunity to see Typeface at the Gene Siskel Film Center last night.
I'm now planning a trip to visit the Hamilton Wood Type Museum for a weekend workshop of type setting!
Operated by volunteers of the Two Rivers Historical Society, the Hamilton Wood Type and Printing Museum is the only museum dedicated to the preservation, study, production and printing of wood type. With 1.5 million pieces of wood type and more than 1,000 styles and sizes of patterns, Hamilton's collection is one of the premier wood type collections in the world.
Apparently you don't have to be a design nerd to appreciate wood type — I recently discovered my mom has a small collection (that I pretty much intend to borrow forever).
